INTERNATIONAL ANTIQUARIAN BOOK FAIR

In the spring, the Antiquarian Book Fair of Paris is held under the glass roof of the Grand Palais. The archives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are the guest of honor of the 2014 edition. The global communication for this prestigious cultural event pays tribute to the institution –  the mission of which is to assist diplomats in their activities and to contribute to historical research. The pictorial representation showing a folded piece of paper is reminiscent of envelopes used for the precious letters sent between France and foreign nations. Acting as a safety case, the origami in the three colours of the French flag shelters a typewritten document ; within this little gem of paper lies a telegram of 1951 announcing the creation of the European Coal and Steel Community. This first stage of the European construction belongs to the history of the diplomatic corps, an institution that has on many occasions changed the course of history.  The folded directional arrows shaped into the geometrical structure symbolize the political decisions made by the corps. The composition in the style of Mondrian has been replicated on a number of materials such as posters, press dossiers, invitation cards and brochures.
