BOOK FAIR

For the 20th edition of the International Antiquarian Book and Fine Print Fair of Paris,  Studio LWA has directed and produced a film revealing the great diversity of exhibits on show at this major  event for book lovers from around the world. Under the nave of the Grand Palais, a piece of paper is twirling around and flitting down, landing for a moment on the stalls of Japanese, French or American booksellers, whirled off to caress a print by Chagall, then soaring away again through the aisles of the Grand Palais. Closely followed by the camera, the twirling leaf takes us from a licentious book by the Marquis de Sade to the archives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, from a delicate 17th century atlas to a lithograph by Picasso, from a workshop showing engraving techniques to the ceremony of the Bibliography award. Following the trail of the flying page, we come across the people who have made this fair a unique and major cultural event - booksellers, curators, galerists, writers, or mere members of the public and book lovers such as Pierre Bergé. The film also pays tribute organiser of the fair Le Syndicat du Librairie Ancienne Moderne, an institution celebrating its centenary in 2014.
